Meet Doc Morrison
I am a Doctor, which means I am a teacher. Since graduating from medical school in 2000, I have learned that being a doctor means caring deeply about people you’ve just met or may never know. It is a privileged role where people share information they trust with no one else.
I was born in Colorado at Rose Hospital and, from an early age, knew I wanted to become a doctor. My desire to help others and make a meaningful difference has always guided me. Throughout my life, I have strived to be a positive force in the lives of my friends, family, and patients. Doc Morrison is the culmination of these efforts.
Marijuana was a personal secret during my younger years. I remember confiding in my primary care doctor after graduating from medical school. When asked about drug use, I hesitantly admitted to marijuana use. After a long pause, he responded, “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.” Another formative moment was witnessing a respected professor face severe professional consequences over a small amount of marijuana, reinforcing my decision to keep my use private.
I spent many years in Emergency Medicine, a highly stressful field that impacted my health negatively. I struggled with weight, lack of exercise, and excessive alcohol consumption. My younger brother Josh tragically took his life after a lifelong struggle with alcohol. In dealing with my grief, I gradually quit drinking. Two years after Josh’s death, I broke my arm and discovered I had developed diabetes. With alcohol behind me, I committed to changing my diet and incorporating regular exercise, greatly inspired and aided by Pirate, my energetic and sociable dog. Through consistent effort, I successfully reversed my diabetes within two years.
Medical Marijuana (MMJ) has played a significant role in my personal health transformation. It has empowered me with patience, resilience, and the courage to embrace challenges I once thought impossible. I have witnessed similar transformations in countless patients who have reduced or discontinued medications like painkillers, muscle relaxers, anxiolytics, antidepressants, sleeping pills, psychiatric medications, and particularly alcohol. Patients often approach me seeking guidance on reducing their reliance on prescription drugs, preferring alternatives with fewer side effects. Each year, I observe thousands making these positive shifts.
Doc Morrison, established in 2014, reflects my passion and values. Recognizing the complexity of the medical marijuana application process, simplifying this experience became a cornerstone of my practice. Listening carefully to my patients, addressing their concerns about THC levels, and exploring safer consumption methods, such as edibles, have also become vital aspects of my care philosophy.
Throughout my journey, I’ve been privileged to work alongside remarkable individuals—patients who inspire me daily, teaching profound lessons of strength, resilience, and hope. They motivate me to live fully, strive harder, and continually evolve. Thank you all for helping me become my best self.
